Two Quick Requests
Instead of an episode today I have two quick requests: Check out CSTA’s conference going on this week and consider volunteering with CSTA.
-
Rather than releasing a new unpacking
scholarship episode or an interview with
a guest I'm going to ask two things from
you one is that you check out the
conference that is going on this week
for computer science Teachers
Association it's going on from July 11th
through the 13th and it is virtual and
the sessions are being recorded So I
believe you will have access to them
after the fact so if you miss out on a
session while you're attending another
one then you can check it out later if
you happen to be attending I'm doing a
couple of sessions there so make sure
you stop in and say hello and let me
know if you listen to the podcast one of
my sessions is with Jen manly and we're
going to talk about preventing burnout
in education another session is on
facilitating multiple programming
languages in one space and then last one
is on project-based learning with
scratch which by the way I'm releasing
scratch content on my website at
jaredolieri.com scratch so check it out
if that interests you the second thing
that I ask of you is that you check out
csteachers.org engage on that website
you'll be able to learn how to volunteer
with csta which is something that I've
done for the last several years like
I've been on the PD standards committee
the PD accreditation committee an award
reviewer conference program reviewer
in-person conference volunteer treasurer
for the Arizona chapter etc etc why am I
doing all that in my free time because I
genuinely appreciate the organization
and think it's doing great things for
the field so the more people that sign
up that volunteer the better because it
just helps more computer science
teachers down the road it's a very
simple form to fill out all you do is go
to csteachers.org engage click on the
apply button and then just check which
options you're interested in for
volunteering and again you can learn
more about it on the website I hope to
see you all at the conference this week
and stay tuned for an episode next week
until then I hope you're all staying
safe and are having a wonderful week
